Kunstkollektivet bak Oslofjord Triennale

Kristin Bergaust 

Kristin Bergaust er en norsk kunstner, forsker og professor. På 1990-tallet bygget hun opp og ledet Atelier Nord, Norges første medieverksted for kunstnere som en norsk pioner på mediekunstfeltet. Hennes faglige og kunstneriske interesser fokuserer ofte på kunst og teknologi i et økologisk og sosialt perspektiv. Hun har jobbet med temaer som fjordøkologi, transkulturelle prosesser, gjerne med elementer av video, animasjon og lyd. Hennes kunstneriske praksis omfatter blant annet galleripresentasjoner, sosiale, performative prosjekter og interdisiplinære samarbeid. Bergaust presenterer ofte arbeidene sine rundt i Europa i både kunstneriske og akademiske nettverk, workshops og utstillinger.

Bergaust har vært professor ved OsloMet siden 2008. Hun er for tiden prodekan for forskning ved Fakultet for teknologi, kunst og design (TKD) på OsloMet.

I 2015 startet hun det tverrfaglige kunstprosjektet Oslofjord Ecologies som del av det internasjonale nettverket Renewable Futures, støttet av Creative Europe. Etter flere utstillinger og aktiviteter i Norge, Finnland og Latvia ble noen tema fra prosjektet presentert i boka Oslofjord Ecologies- Artistic Research on Environmental and Social Sustainability. Prosjektet Ocean Connections, et samarbeid med to forskere, en matematiker og en økoingeniør har resultert i animasjoner med matematisk modellering av Oslofjorden som en fortelling om artsmangfold

Kristin Bergaust is a Norwegian artist, researcher, and professor. In the 1990s, she established and led Atelier Nord, Norway's first media lab for artists, making her a pioneer in the field of media art in Norway. Her academic and artistic interests frequently focus on the intersection of art and technology within ecological and social perspectives. She has worked on themes such as fjord ecology and transcultural processes, often incorporating elements of video, animation, and sound. Her artistic practice encompasses gallery presentations, social and performative projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Bergaust frequently presents her work across Europe within both artistic and academic networks, workshops, and exhibitions.

Bergaust has been a professor at OsloMet since 2008. She is currently the Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) at OsloMet.

In 2015, she initiated the interdisciplinary art project Oslofjord Ecologies as part of the international network Renewable Futures, supported by Creative Europe. Following several exhibitions and activities in Norway, Finland, and Latvia, themes from the project were presented in the book Oslofjord Ecologies – Artistic Research on Environmental and Social Sustainability. The project Ocean Connections, a collaboration with two researchers—a mathematician and an eco-engineer—has resulted in animations utilizing mathematical modeling of the Oslo Fjord to create a narrative about biodiversity.

Linn Cecilie Ulvin 

Linn Cecilie Ulvin er forfatter, billedkunstner og uavhengig kurator. I sitt arbeid utforsker hun kombinasjoner av litteratur, performativitet og visualitet, i tilknytning til sin egen skjønnlitterære skriving. Hennes virke er i hovedsak tverrfaglig, noe som kommer til uttrykk gjennom tekst, performance, installasjon, kollasj, lyd, foto og kuratoriske prosjekter.

Linn Cecilie Ulvin is an author, fine artist and independent curator. In her work she explores combinations of literature, performativity and visuality, in connection to her own fictional writing. Her work is essentially interdisciplinary. This is expressed through text, performance, installation, collage, sound, photo and curatorial projects.

Camilla Dahl 

Camilla Dahl arbeider med ideen om kunstnerisk praksis og forskning som verktøy for å skape nye språk, ny kunnskap og nye kollektive realiteter. Med performance, skulptur, installasjon, aksjonisme og kuratorarbeid tar hun sikte på å utvikle nye strategier for kunstens relevans i samfunnet. Dahl co-initierte og kuraterte «Karnevalet» i Oslo i 2019 og er medlem av kunstnerkollektivene Der Strich og First Supper Symposium. I 2017-18 deltok hun i kunst & forskningsprosjektet Oslofjord Ecologies. 

Utvalgte utstillinger: Interkulturelt museum, Schirn Kunsthalle, Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin, ZKM, Stenersen museet, Haugar kunstmuseum, Deste Foundation, Kunsthalle Mannheim og OK Center of Contemporary Art Linz.

Camilla Dahl explores the concept of artistic practice and research as tools for generating new languages, knowledge, and collective realities. Through performance, sculpture, installation, activism, and curatorial work, she aims to develop new strategies for the relevance of art in society. Dahl co-initiated and curated "Karnevalet" (The Carnival) in Oslo in 2019 and is a member of the artist collectives Der Strich and First Supper Symposium. From 2017 to 2018, she participated in the art and research project Oslofjord Ecologies.

Vibeke Hermanrund

Vibeke Hermanrud er miljø- og samfunnsengasjert feministisk kurator og kunstformidler, som jobber med samtidskunst og kunstprosjekter i offentlige rom. Hun er kjent for å bygge nettverk mellom utøvende kunstnere, forskere og aktører i lokalsamfunnet. Til daglig jobber hun som kunstfaglig rådgiver i Asker kommune, og har bred erfaring som kommunikasjonsansvarlig og koordinator for kunst i offentlige rom i Bjørvika (2011–2021) og fra internasjonalt solidaritets- og bistandsarbeid (1995–2010).

I 2012 etablerte hun Kunstplass – et visningssted for samtidskunst sammen med Henriette Stensdal. I perioden 2012-2023 produserte og kuraterte Hermanrud og Stensdal over 80 utstillinger og kunstprosjekter, med deltakelse fra mer enn 300 kunstnere fra inn- og utland. Prosjektene hadde ofte en tydelig feministisk, skeiv og politisk profil, og inkluderte samarbeid med festivaler og museer.

I 2020 utviklet og kuraterte Hermanrud prosjektet Submerged Portal som del av masteren på KMD. Det resulterte i en gruppeutstilling på Kunstplass i Oslo med fem tverrfaglige kunstnere som utforsket vannets betydning gjennom video, tegning og installasjon. Utstillingen hadde et hydrofeministisk perspektiv, inspirert av Oslofjordens økologiske utfordringer og Astrida Neimanis' bok «Bodies of water».

Mot slutten av 2021 tok Kunstplass initiativ til Oslofjord Triennale gjennom en nettverkssamling med 16 ressurspersoner. Deltakerne fra Submerged Portal og sentrale aktører fra kunst- og kulturfeltet, som Oslofjord Ecologies, Kunstrom Skogen, First Supper Symposium og Figur i Fossekleiva, ble enige om å etablere Oslofjord Triennale, med mål om å skape kunstneriske intervensjoner og prosjekter av høy kvalitet på tvers av Oslofjorden.

Hermanrud har en MA i kuratorisk praksis fra Fakultet for kunst, musikk og design ved Universitetet i Bergen (2019/2021), samt Master of Science i naturressursforvaltning og bærekraftig landbruk i tropiske strøk fra NMBU (1993/1995) Hun har BA i sosialøkonomi og kunst fra St.Johns University, New York (1990/1993)

Vibeke Hermanrud is an environmentally and socially engaged feminist curator and art communicator, specializing in contemporary art and public art projects. She is known for building networks between practicing artists, researchers, and local community stakeholders. Currently, she serves as an Art Advisor for Asker Municipality. Her extensive background includes roles as Communications Manager and Coordinator for public art in Bjørvika (2011–2021), as well as international solidarity and development work (1995–2010).

In 2012, she co-founded Kunstplass—a contemporary art space—together with Henriette Stensdal. Between 2012 and 2023, Hermanrud and Stensdal produced and curated over 80 exhibitions and art projects, featuring more than 300 Norwegian and international artists. Their projects often maintained a distinct feminist, queer, and political profile, and included collaborations with various festivals and museums.

In 2020, Hermanrud developed and curated the project Submerged Portal as part of her Master's degree at the Faculty of Art, Music and Design (KMD). This resulted in a group exhibition at Kunstplass in Oslo, featuring five interdisciplinary artists who explored the significance of water through video, drawing, and installation. The exhibition adopted a hydrofeminist perspective, inspired by the ecological challenges of the Oslo Fjord and Astrida Neimanis' book Bodies of Water.

Towards the end of 2021, Kunstplass initiated the Oslofjord Triennale through a networking session involving 16 key resource persons. Participants from Submerged Portal and central actors from the arts and culture field—such as Oslofjord Ecologies, Kunstrom Skogen, First Supper Symposium, and Figur i Fossekleiva—agreed to establish the triennale. The goal is to create high-quality artistic interventions and projects across the Oslo Fjord.

Hermanrud holds an MA in Curatorial Practice from the Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen (2019/2021), and an MSc in Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Agriculture in tropical regions from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU, 1993/1995). She also holds a BA in Economics and Art from St. John's University, New York (1990/1993).

Mari L.B Kamsvaag

Mari LB Kamsvaag er en norsk scenograf, kostymedesigner og billedkunstner. Hun har studert scenografi ved Akademi for scenekunst i Fredrikstad (Høgskolen i Østfold) og kultur og kommunikasjon ved Universitetet i Oslo.

Med bakgrunn fra det eksperimentelle scenekunstfeltet undersøker hun former på tvers av sjangre. Hun legger særlig vekt på at alle elementer – det visuelle, auditive, tekst, lukt, osv. – kan være likeverdige for at det helhetlige verket skal komme sammen. Denne tilnærmingen, ofte omtalt som romlig komposisjon, innebærer også å samarbeide med økosystemer i en utvidet forstand.

For Kamsvaag er det å skape rom, møter og samtaler essensielt for livet. Ved å flette sammen historisk tid og samtid for å skape en fremtid, danner hun buer for dialog. Hun er en del av scenekunstgruppen vandrefrank og duoen Propaganda Machine, hvor undring, romlig eksklusjon/inklusjon og mikroplast i magene våre er sentrale temaer. Hun utforsker spesifikke rom for spesielle møter, der sanseopplevelser er de viktigste verktøyene, og hvor steder og sjangre varierer. I 2023 ble hun en del av kuratorteamet for Oslofjord Triennale.

Mari LB Kamsvaag is a Norwegian scenographer, costume designer and visual artist. Studied Scenography at the Norwegian theatre Academy, Fredrikstad and Culture and Communication at the University of Oslo. Coming from the environment of the experimental scene she investigates forms across genres, with a particular value that all elements (visual, audial, text, smell, etc) can be of equal importance for the overall piece to come together - aka spatial composition, and collaborating with ecosystems in a broader sense.

Creating space, meetings and conversations is essential for life. By blending historic time and present time to create a future we create arches for dialogue.

She is part of the performing arts group vandrefrank, and the duo Propaganda Machine, where wonder, spatial exclusion/inclusion and micro plastic in our stomachs are focal points. She investigates specific spaces for special meetings, where experiences with all senses are main tools, and sites and genres may vary. I 2023 she became part of the curator team for Oslofjord Triennale.
